Description

This course is highly recommended as a prerequisite for other courses in the Summer Sessions for those who have not previously taken a course in international intellectual property law. The course introduces students to the basic principles and legal instruments of international intellectual property law. The course will include coverage of the international treatment of patents, copyrights and trademarks. The course will introduce students to the international legal and institutional framework for the international regulation of intellectual property, including coverage of the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property, the Berne Convention for the protection of Literary and Artistic Property and the WTO Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property (TRIPS). The course is highly recommended as a precursor to any other course in the PIJIP Summer Sessions for any student who has not previously taken a course in international intellectual property law.
