AUWCL Health Law Director Begins Term to Lead AHLA with Focus on Diversity and Innovation

The American Health Law Association (AHLA) has announced Asha Scielzo as its new Association President for the upcoming year. Scielzo officially began her term on July 1.

"It has been an honor to associate with Asha over the years and see the influence she provides as an ambassador for health law," said David S. Cade, chief executive officer of AHLA. "Her dynamic passion for health care and drive to get things done will be a major contributor in AHLA’s future success. I look forward to seeing what she will accomplish in the coming year."

A long-standing member of AHLA since 2002, Scielzo has served in various leadership roles, including as a board member, program chair, donor, and mentor. With several years of health law practice experience, she currently serves as the director of the Health Law and Policy Program at American University Washington College of Law. In this role, she channels her deep passion for health care to champion progress in health law education, guiding students and professionals in developing meaningful careers and inspiring them to leave their mark on the industry. 

Scielzo's presidency marks a significant milestone in AHLA's commitment to fostering a diverse and vibrant community. As the first president of South Asian descent, she emphasizes the importance of diversity and inclusive leadership within the association.
