Along with being a business law student, 3L Justin Snyder serves as the executive director of the LAMBDA Law Society—AUWCL's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and ally (LGBTQA) student group, founded in 1984 as a political, educational, and social organization.

On Thursday, Nov. 21, Professors Juan Mendez and Brenda Smith headed to Capitol Hill to participate in a congressional staff briefing on “Solitary Confinement: Briefing on H.R. 4488.” This recently introduced legislation focuses on developing and implementing national standards for the use of solitary confinement in federal correctional facilities.

Two students at American University Washington College of Law, 2L Lauren LaVare and 3L Ericka Cruz, have been chosen as recipients of the 2019-20 Myers Law Scholarship. 

On Tuesday, Nov. 26, Dean Emeritus and Professor Claudio Grossman—R. Geraldson Scholar for International Humanitarian Law, member of the UN International Law Commission, and associate member of the Institut de Droit International —presented “Crisis in Chile: Challenges and Perspectives.”

American University Washington College of Law externs Meredith Bayer, Sara Talebian and Walker Livingston met with nationally recognized Chef Jeff Steelman of HMSHost Corporation as part of the extern program "Skills of In-House Counsel," taught by Assistant Adjunct Professor Jon W. Stentz, associate General Counsel and Compliance Officer at HMSHost.
