A champion for inclusive excellence, American University Washington College of Law welcomes a diverse student body from across the nation each year. But when 2L Juliette Anne Jackson came to AUWCL, she noticed how few of her peers were also Native American.

Following American University’s Fall Commencement for all 2020 Graduates, Washington College of Law will hold its school celebration on Zoom, featuring live commencement addresses from Acting Dean Robert Dinerstein and Spring 2020 graduate Cassandra Monahan.  

American University Washington College of Law has received a three-year grant of $3.8 million from Arcadia, a charitable fund of Lisbet Rausing and Peter Baldwin, for its Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property (PIJIP). The project will study changes needed in international copyright policy to ensure equity in the production of and access to research.

American University Washington College of Law congratulates Professor of Law and Dean Emeritus Claudio Grossman, the recipient of the United Nations Association of the Nations Capital’s (UNA-NCA) 2020 Louis B. Sohn Award for his outstanding work and accomplishments in human rights.

WCL is guided by the same mandates that shape University-wide decisions--namely, that we remain student-centered, conscious of health and safety concerns, and flexible. In addition, we have tailored some of our policies to the particular needs of legal education and our law school community.
