On May 17, the American University Washington College of Law held its annual spring commencement ceremony. This year, 466 students graduated with a Juris Doctor (JD), 145 with a Master of Laws (LL.M.), and six with a Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD).

American University Washington College of Law hosted the Fifth International Conference on Human Rights Education “Advancing Universal Human Rights Culture,” Dec. 4-6. This was the first time the conference was held in the Western Hemisphere.

The Immigrant Justice Clinic at American University Washington College of Law argued a case in January before the Supreme Court of Virginia. Third year student Rachel Nadas presented oral argument.

American University Washington College of Law hosted a reception in January for alumni recently elected to public office—including U.S. Representatives Gwen Graham ’88 and Stacey Plaskett ’94. The reception also recognized alumni elected officials from Maryland, Virginia, and D.C.
