The Latina/o Alumni Association of the Washington College of Law (LAAW), whose goal is to promote professional development through networking and career mentoring, elected new members to serve on its Board of Directors for the 2015-2016 term.

The Office of Development and Alumni along with Robert E. Zimet ‘74, partner at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP, will host a reception for American University Washington College of Law alumni at their New York law offices on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 6:30pm.

In his role as UN Special Rapporteur Against Torture, Professor Juan Mendez inaugurated the second Training Program on Human Rights Protection Mechanisms, organized by the Robert F. Kennedy Training Institute in collaboration with AUWCL. MORE

First year student Nicole Phillips has a background in nonprofit lobbying and even founded her own nonprofit organization. She came to AUWCL because she appreciated the law school’s mission and opportunities in public interest law.

This year marked the 30th Anniversary of the U.S./Israel Human Rights Law Fellowship. The event was celebrated in September with the renaming of the fellowship in honor of its creator, Professor Herman Schwartz.
