Starting Nov. 9, Dean Claudio Grossman, chairperson of the United Nations Committee against Torture (UN CAT), will preside over the Committee's 56th session in Geneva, Switzerland, and serve as country rapporteur for Austria.

AUWCL Partners with the Office of the Attorney General of Colombia
On Wednesday, Oct. 27, the Attorney General of Colombia Eduardo Montealegre visited American University Washington College of Law to create a partnership on academic cooperation between the law school and the Attorney General’s Office. Through this partnership, American University Washington College of Law will provide trainings for the officials from the Office of the Attorney General in the area of international human rights.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2015 Peter James Johnson National Civil Rights Trial Competition 2Ls Christine Varghese, Monisha Rao, Brian Tan, and 3L Stephen Ollar! Competing at the St. John’s University School of Law Oct. 22-25, our students won the case, which focused on a fictional Baloba quarantine story and involved claims of negligence and wrongful discharge in violation of public policy.
