Angie MCarthy ‘13, Program Coordinator for the Women and the Law Program and an AUWCL alumnae, is the recipient of this year’s American University Diversity Award. The Diversity Award is given to a staff member who seeks out, values, and utilizes the knowledge and experiences of a diverse community.

On June 14, the White House Council on Women and Girls convened the first United State of Women Summit, a large-scale effort to rally together advocates of gender equality to highlight what women have achieved, identify the challenges that remain, and chart the course for addressing them. AUWCL Professor Brenda Smith was invited to participate in a panel discussion on women, girls, and the justice system.
