This year, American University Washington College of Law’s Health Law and Policy Summer Institute will celebrate its tenth year of specialized summer courses. The law school was an early adopter of the summer institute format for health law and policy, and continues to be a resource for students and practitioners.

Lizzie Lewis '15 has always had a passion for environmental conservation, and has channeled that passion into a career in environmental law and policy. Lewis has worked on both domestic and international ocean conservation issues for various NGOs and government agencies, and is currently a Law Fellow at Meyer Glitzenstein & Eubanks LLP in Washington, D.C., which specializes in litigation on behalf of grassroots conservation and advocacy organizations.

This spring, AUWCL celebrated 96 student authors who were published in a wide variety of legal journals and briefs. The 12th Annual Student Authors reception was a moment for the law school to celebrate the accomplishments of all our student authors. AUWCL News took the opportunity to ask just a few of them what motivated them to delve into the innovative topics that led to their being published as law students.

The Trial Advocacy Program held a Dean’s Reception Tuesday, April 25, to honor the successes of the Mock Trial, Moot Court, and Alternative Dispute Resolution competition teams as well as to celebrate the Trial Advocacy Program’s rise in ranking to number four in the nation.

The Women and the Law Program along with the Office of Development and Alumni Relations held the law school's annual Women and the Law Leadership Award Luncheon and Ceremony this past Monday. The Women and the Law Leadership Award recognizes the extraordinary accomplishments of alumnae who made significant contributions to the field of law and their service to the law school. This year, the program honored Lisa Dewey ’93 and her commitment to pro bono work and access to justice.
