26th Annual Grotius Lecture on International Law and Reception

The American Society of International Law and the International Legal Studies Program at American University Washington College of Law are thrilled to announce that the 26th Annual Grotius Lecture will be delivered by Dame Meg Taylor, Papua New Guinea lawyer, and diplomat. Dame Meg also serves as Pacific Ocean Commissioner and a Member of the Pacific Elders Voice.

We are also excited to announce that the discussant for the lecture will be Julian Aguon, an Indigenous human rights lawyer and member of the Global Advisory Council of Progressive International.

The Grotius Lecture will take place on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 5:00PM - 6:00PM at the Washington Hilton. A reception will follow the lecture from 6:00 - 7:30. This event is part of the ASIL Annual Meeting; however, registration for the annual meeting is not required to attend this event.

Careers in Government: International

Join Professor Wermiel, OCPD, and a panel of WCL alums from the State Department and Export-Import Bank to learn more about legal careers in the government focused on investigation and enforcement work. 

 

This will be the third in our Spring panel series on government careers, and is recommended for any JD student interested in potentially working in the government or a related practice area.

 

Many of the agencies we will feature have terrific externship, summer, and post-grad programs for our students, but deadlines can be as early as August for government jobs!  Join us for a pizza lunch in NT07. so you can hear what these alum have to share and start planning ahead for these deadlines over the summer!
