Prof. Sean Flynn to Speak at Webinar on Artificial Intelligence, Text- and Data Mining, and Big Data in Kenya

On Thursday, March 3, PIJIP Director Sean Flynn will speak on at a webinar on copyright and new technologies in Kenya. The webinar is sponsored by the Kenya Copyright Board and Electronic Information for Libraries, in cooperation with the Kenya Libraries and Information Services Consortium and the Right to Research in International Copyright Law project.

The webinar is at 2:30 Nairobi time (12:30 CET), and it is free and open to anyone to attend. To join the webinar via MS Teams, click here.

The panel will also include Angeline Wairegi, Cynthia Nzuki and Mitchel Ondili, from the Centre For Intellectual Property And Information Technology Law, Strathmore Law School, and Faith Omondi, from the Kenya Copyright Board.  

The webinar will introduce copyright issues relating to AI/TDM and Big Data, the potential of AI and the context for its use in Kenya, as well as the international perspective on copyright issues and AI. It will help to identify any policy or legal gaps at national and international levels, and any steps that might be needed to support the development of TDM/AI and Big Data.
