Professor Sean Flynn testified last week on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) before the Senate of Mexico. His testimony focused on the importance of including provisions in NAFTA to protect the abilities of countries to have general and open public interest copyright exceptions.

Last week, the Association of Research Libraries published a new report - The Copyright Permissions Culture in Software Preservation and Its Implications for the Cultural Record - by Prof. Peter Jaszi, Patricia Aufderheide Brandon Butler and Krista Cox. The report summarizes results from research with the professionals who make up the software preservation community about how their understanding of copyright intersects with their preservation mission.

Professor Christine Farley will join UC Berkeley Prof. Robert Merges and UCLA Prof. David Nimmer at the USC Gould School of Law's 2018 Intellectual Property Institute. 

On January 29, 2018, PIJIP and the IP Law Society held the Annual IP Career Counseling and Speed Networking with Alumni event. Students received personalized career and resume advice from top alumni practitioners from top law firms, companies, and government agencies through scheduled interviews, and at the following reception. 

On February 25, 2018, Professor Sean Flynn will present on "Promoting a Right to Fair Use in Trade Agreements" at the Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment and Technology Law 2018 Symposium – Dramatic Changes: International Trade's Effect on Intellectual Property and Human Rights.
