PIJIP Director Michael Carroll served on an ad hoc committee under the N.A.S. Board on Research Data and Information which has completed a study on the challenges of broadening access to the results of scientific research, described as “open science.”

One the the week of Jun 18, PIJIP Professor Christine Farley taught an intensive course in advanced trademark law to Trademark Examining Attorney at the Cuban Industrial Property Office.

PIJIP Co-Director is quoted discussing the Music Modernization Act (MMA) in the Washington Examiner. The legislation is meant to increase the certainty that copyright holders will receive payment from streaming services, and it will require royalties for pre-1972 recordings. It has passed the house and is awaiting senate approval
