Last month, PIJIP hosted its Annual Intellectual Property & Technology Career Coaching and Speed Networking event virtually for the first time! The event welcomed AUWCL students interested in intellectual property, alumni working in the field, and the law school’s faculty. We had 17 coaches and close to 30 students attend nationwide!

Today, February 15th, is the 75th anniversary of ENIAC, the world’s first modern computer.  For years the story of ENIAC was told as a history of pioneering hardware, with a team led by Dr. John Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert.  It is a great story, but one missing a critical element: the role of its six original programmers, all young women who stepped up to help the US Army during WWII.   This is the story that PIJIP and Glushko-Samuelson Intellectual Property Law Clinic Professor Kathryn Kleiman has researched since her undergraduate years.

Professor Kathryn Kleiman, together with Co-Chairs Philip Corwin of Verisign and Brian Beckham of the World Intellectual Property Organization, steered the largest policy review group at the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (“ICANN”) to its final report and presentation of 35 changes and improvements for policies to protect trademarks and free speech.
