Prof. Sean Flynn Submits Comments on South African Copyright Amendment Bill on Behalf of the Global Global Network on Copyright User Rights
The submission focuses on Section 12A of the Copyright Amendment Bill, which is an open general exception for “fair use” of copyrighted works. This provision is largely an updating of South Africa’s current general exception for “fair dealing” with a copyrighted work.

On July 1, American University's Summer Program on the WTO & U.S. Trade Law and Policy hosted a public session on COVID-19, Vaccines and Trade. Participants discussed supply chain issues, what to expect with the different variants of the current strain, and how the current TRIPS waiver under debate at the World Trade Organization could help countries obtain vaccines.

Analysis of WIPO Report on Limitations and Exceptions: Report Does Not Adequately Reflect Stakeholder Priorities
In 2019, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) hosted a series of three regional workshops and an international seminar on copyright limitations and exceptions for libraries, archives, museums, and educational and research institutions. WIPO's Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights summarized the meetings in a subsequent report. Today, PIJIP releases an analysis of WIPO's report by Professor Sean Flynn.
