300th Quarterly Meeting of the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FFSB) in collaboration with AUWCL International and Humphrey Program
 

On September 26, American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL) hosted the 300th quarterly meeting of the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FFSB) in collaboration with AUWCL’s International and Comparative Legal Studies Program (ICLS) and Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program (Humphrey Program).  

AU’s President Sylvia Burwell, AUWCL’s Dean Roger Fairfax and Professor Padideh Ala’i, Director of the ICLS and the Humphrey Program at AUWCL welcomed members of the FFSB and representatives of the Department of State (DOS) to our campus. Lee Satterfield, Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) at the DOS, and political strategist and Chair of the FFSB, Donna Brazile, presented keynote remarks and spoke about the importance of cultural and academic exchanges.

In addition to the members of the FFSB, the gathering welcomed other distinguished guests, including Scott Weinhold, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for ECA, Ethan Rosenzweig, Acting Chief of Protocol at the DOS, and Secretary Alphonso Jackson. Following the FFSB closed meetings, AUWCL welcomed the Board members and distinguished guests to attend a panel discussion featuring this year’s Humphrey Fellows, Yuko Hamada, Senior Monitoring and Partnership Officer at International Organization of Migration and Professor Padideh Ala’i. Kelsi Ward, Branch Chief for the Humphrey Fellowship Program at ECA, moderated the panel. AUWCL has been hosting Humphrey Fellows in law and human rights for over 20 years and has been an active partner of Fulbright programs.
