On November 7, the Academy of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law hosted the round table: "Hemisphere in Crisis? The Dire Human Rights Situation in Venezuela and Nicaragua." WCL Dean Emeritus and Professor of Law Claudio Grossman, moderated the event. Panelists included Paulo Abrao, Executive Secretary of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR); Katya Salazar, Executive Director of the Due Process Foundation (DPLF); Francisco Quintana, Program Director for the Andean, North America and Caribbean Region at the Center for Justice and International Law (CEJIL); and Andrés González Díaz, former Permanent Representative of Colombia to the OAS and a Visiting Scholar at WCL.

In follow up to the round table, Professor Claudia Martin interviewed some of the panelists who attended the event. In this series of interviews our speakers address some important questions such as what actions can be taken at the international level to address the human rights crisis in both countries, the role that the OAS and the Inter-American Human Rights System can play in these situations, and what has been the role of civil society both at the domestic and international levels. The interviews (in English) are available below.
