This landmark event served as a dynamic gathering to bring together students enthusiastic about human rights and humanitarian law and set the tone for an exciting year ahead. The program brought together students, faculty, and distinguished experts from Washington College of Law to share their experiences in human rights landscape.

The event provided attendees with an opportunity to:

  • Explore firsthand opportunities to engage in practical work that builds experience in the field, including internships, advocacy projects, and research activities.
  • Hear about WCL professors’ involvement in groundbreaking research and initiatives addressing some of the most pressing human rights challenges of our time.

The Director of the Center, Professor Eduardo Bertoni, not only laid out the exciting roadmap for the year but also emphasized the Center’s renewed commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive community for all students interested in human rights.

In their remarks, Dean’s Fellow Gloria Baidoo and Brenna Collette reflected on the significance of this moment: “This kickoff marks the beginning of a revitalized Center where students can come together to explore, learn, and contribute to advancing justice and equality and encouraged students to visit the Center often. “We are thrilled to reignite this important space for collaboration and action.”

The gathering concluded with an open forum, allowing students to share their interests, aspirations, and ideas for shaping the Center’s initiatives moving forward. This collaborative energy symbolized the heart of the Center’s mission: to unite diverse perspectives in the pursuit of human rights and humanitarian justice.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making this event a success.
