AUWCL Hosts Discussion on Advancing American University’s Plan for Inclusive Excellence

On Monday, April 23rd, the American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL) Office of Diversity and Inclusion partnered with AUWCL International and Comparative Legal Studies Program to host an interactive lunch called, “The Ties That Bind.”  The event featured a discussion about how through sharing experiences we discover our commonalities while appreciating our differences.  Getting to know our students and colleagues helps to build our community, so attendees joined in a conversation focused on learning and fellowship.  The event was set forward in support from an American University Inclusive Excellence Mini-Grant.

One of the five overarching goals in American University’s Plan for Inclusive Excellence is to enhance campus climate, culture, and community.  In support of this institutional priority, the President’s Council on Diversity and Inclusion launch of Inclusive Excellence Mini-Grants—a dedicated pool of funds to encourage collaboration across divisions, departments, units and student organizations.  Inclusive Excellence Mini-Grants are utilized to develop and showcase innovative diversity and inclusion programs that build a sense of community and positively impact the climate for faculty, staff, administrators, and students.
