Our Mission:

Educate our students and alumni about the diverse range of practice areas and career opportunities available to those with a legal education, as well as workplace professionalism.

Assist our students and alumni in achieving career satisfaction through self-assessment, exploration and the development of effective job-search strategies.

Communicate with employers about the benefits of hiring our students and alumni and facilitate interaction between these groups.


Career Counseling

OCPD has six career counselors to assist you with the career planning process. Counseling services include:

Programs

OCPD conducts programs on a variety of subjects such as practice areas and career planning options. These programs include discussions with current practitioners in specific fields, many of whom are alumni, and annual programs such as Career Day for 1L's.   (Event Schedule)

CareerLink (Jobs Database)

Positions on CareerLink are updated daily and can also be found in binders in the OCPD office. The listings include student positions, alumni positions, volunteer opportunities, judicial clerkships, and fellowships. If you are unsure of your username and password, contact careerdevelopment@wcl.american.edu to obtain log in instructions.
