Debra Willen

Legal Rhetoric Instructor

Adjunct Instructor Debra Willen is an experienced labor attorney, who currently is practicing at the National Labor Relations Board, in the Division of Advice of the Office of the General Counsel. She has also worked in private practice, representing labor unions and individuals in a wide range of matters in state and federal courts, before federal regulatory agencies, and in labor arbitrations. She practiced as an associate with Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson and Hand, (now part of DLA Piper), with Guerrieri, Edmond and Clayman, first as of counsel and then as a principal of the firm, and as of counsel to Osborne Law Offices. Debra has also served as a court-appointed guardian ad litem for children in Fairfax County, Virginia. She has taught as an adjunct instructor in WCL's Legal Rhetoric Program since January, 2007 and also has taught Appellate Writing and Legal Drafting at George Mason University School of Law. She graduated from Brown University (A.B., magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, 1975) and the University of Virginia School of Law (J.D. 1978).
